The PT-27 designation was given to 300 Kaydets supplied to three RAF flying schools in Canada in the spring of 1942. This one, serials 42-15591 and FD989, went to No 36 EFTS at Pearce, Alberta. However, the open cockpits proved too cold in the Canadian winter and the Stearmans were exchanged for Fairchild Cornells from December 1942. This airframe then served with USAAF schools in Arizona and Texas. It was sold for $372 after the war and flew as a cropduster in the 1950s.

A two-seat, 8/10 scale P-51 replica, built in 1992 by James Smith's company. The design was intended to be made available as a kit aircraft, in different versions resembling the Mustang, Spitfire, Bf 109 and other fighters! It used two coupled Ford Mustang V6 car engines, and other automotive parts including Honda Civic wheels. According to Mr Smith's Stonehenge Air Museum website the project was killed by Ford's liability concerns. The FAA wrongly calls the manufacturer 'Montair'. Smith's genuine P-51D, N6519D, is second in line.

Built in Oxford in 1942, DE995 interestingly wasn't really needed for the war effort and was stored until 1944 when this Tiger Moth was assigned to a Free French training unit. She served in the French air force until 1951 and then in aero clubs as F-BGFL and F-BKFL. Sold to the USA in 1972, she now adds a touch of Britishness to the Stonehenge Air Museum while still airworthy.

According to Joe Baugher, this was originally an F4U-5P photo reconnaissance aircraft which ended its military career in Honduras as FAH-605. To N4901E, N49051, N65HP and N65WF. Painted as an F4U-5N night fighter of VMF(N)-513, it was acquired by James Smith for his rarely seen warbird collection.

Kittyhawk I AK752 served in the RCAF and received Canadian serial 1028. Found on a farm in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1975, it was restored by Col Pay, becoming the first warbird P-40 in Australia as VH-KTH. It was sold to Montana collector James Smith in 1994, and is still airworthy but rarely seen. Although it wore its proper Canadian markings in Australia, it now has a Flying Tigers sharkmouth with its construction number painted on the tailfin.

The Beech 17 Staggerwing was the Gulfstream of its day, a luxury executive aircraft with prices starting at $14,000 in 1934. During WWII of course it found military applications as a light transport aircraft, and this example was built for the US Navy in 1943 as a Beech GB-2, 33028. It was withdrawn from use in 1946 but started a second life as N17643 in 1958.

The Seafire 46 and 47 were the only operational Spitfire variants to have contra-rotating propellers. 114 of them were built and they saw service in the Korean War. This rare survivor, even airworthy, lives in the middle of nowhere near the US-Canadian border, in one of those slightly eccentric plane museums founded by wealthy American collectors, in this case, James Smith. In the background is a Goodyear Inflatoplane.
