Three Central Flying School Jet Provost T.1s in the special red/white display colour scheme. Only ten Mk.1s were built, XD674-80, XD692-3 & G-AOBU. The right hand aircraft in this shot may be XD679. The CFS put up a 4-aircraft display team in these colours at the SBAC Farnborough Air Show in September 1958 as "The CFS Jet Aerobatic Team" and a pair (XD678 & 9) at the SBAC Farnborough Air Show in September 1959 as "The Redskins". XD679 was scrapped at Shawbury in May 1960. Location is not confirmed but most probably the CFS home base of Little Rissington. Photographer not known.

Blenheim Mk.IF night fighters were the first aircraft equipped with radar. The unit is almost certainly No 604 Sqn. L6807 was one of the first IFs with this squadron in November 1939. The second aircraft, L6607, was at one time NG-A and appears to be wearing that 604 Sqn code. Photo by: William Vandivert / Life

The Shackleton first protoype was allocated 7626M(1st December 1959) for use as a Ground Instruction aircraft. It was broken up with the fuselage hulk going to St. Mawgan fire dump in September 1965 with smaller bits noted at 71 MU Bicester. No. 2 RS moved to Cosford in 1965 when Yatesbury closed down. The large hangar in the background still camouflaged from wartime use and still on site today was where the training airframes were kept. A couple of visits in 1960 found 4 Venom NF.3's; 3 Hunters; 2 Lincoln B.2's: and one each of a Canberra, Varsity and Javelin.

Arriving at Blackpool on its last flight, escorted by Royal Navy Canberra T22 WH797 that was on a test flight out of nearby Warton. XL391 was one of the Vulcan B2 modified for 'Operation Black Buck' but it was never used operationally. It was kept outside at Blackpool and the salt laden air took its toll. It was finally scrapped in 2006.

'Practising for RAF Empire Day pageant near RAF Martlesham Heath,' but the year is not clear. The Valentia transport, an updated Victoria, did not fly until 1934. K3603 crashed in Lincolnshire in 1941. The other aircraft is said to be S1715, a Vildebeest which was converted as a Vincent and wears a night bomber paint job.
