3/78: TOS USN and assigned to Attack Squadron 174 (VA-174), NAS Cecil Field, FL. Ca.4/78: VA-81, NAS Oceana, VA. 1979 to 1981: Deployed three times on USS Forrestal. Ca.1981 to 1990: VA-83, NAS Oceana. Deployed on USS Forrestal and USS John F. Kennedy. 1990: VA-46 at NAS Cecil Field, FL. While with VA-46, the plane flew off of USS John F. Kennedy in Desert Storm, flying 37 combat missions over Iraq and Kuwait, including the first attack against Baghdad. 5/91: Flown to National Naval Aviation Museum, NAS Pensacola, FL.

Maintenance work in museum's Hangar Bay One required removal of A-7E 160714 to the parking lot for a few hours. Great photo opportunity!

Served with the US Navy as 160713. Transferred to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) with inventory number 6A0395 in June 1991. Relocated to Pima between June 1991 and 1996.

Assigned to VA-46 Clansmen. Was struck off charge in 1990. Taken aboard CV 66 America during a special open day;

Taken aboard CV 66 America at Portsmouth Harbor during a special open day. Stored in 1990 and later used as a range target and destroyed.

Retired in 1994, 152070 has been painted in he markings of Lcdr John McCain. On July 29, 1967, Skyhawk 149996 was destroyed when struck by a rocket accidentally fired on board the USS Forrestal during preparations for launch.
