Came in for a couple of ILS approaches, the backseater seems to be a NASA astronaut. This aircraft was the first conversion to T-38C standard.

How happy everybody was to see this beautifully painted Stealth during this amazing display. And it was a once in a lifetime experience, since this fully hand made prototype was wearing this scheme for the 2nd and last time of its career, after the Edwards show it has been transferred from Palmdale to Holloman and will be used as a ground test bed only in the future. This aircraft suffered also a landing accident back in Jan 82, when it recovered onto a bed of foam, following the loss of the nosewheel.

Please look closely, this is the 'Gray Dragon', the one and only gray painted F-117 during a test flight at Palmdale, where it has been based. According to an USAF website article this test aircraft has recently been retired.

C-23A of the 445th FLTS/412th TW. This was one of the few white and red aircraft we were permitted to photograph on the bus tour of the ramps. Probably one of the biggest let-downs of my first visit to the USA.

A specially marked Typhoon, the personal mount of the 6 Squadron boss, Wing Commander M Baulkwill, was displayed in the squadron's hangar at RAF Leuchars during an event to mark its 100th Anniversary. 6 Squadron has a number of Battle Honours including the Western Front 1914-18, the Somme 1916, Egypt & Libya 1940-43 and the Gulf 1991.

A rarely seen 'ED' tailcoded Nighthawk of the 412th Test Wing, 410th FTS, based at Palmdale, the famous Skunk Works (see insignia). The test aircrafts often use the Precision Impact Test Range at Edwards AFB to test new weapons, like the JDAM GPS guided bombs. This work will ensure the Nighthawk far greater flexibility for future deployments.

This picture clearly shows an rarely seen open Sidewinder rail of the new Raptor. This EMD aircraft is operated by the 422nd TES, tailcode 'ED', based at Edwards AFB, California.
