Good to see a 76 in this part of the world nowadays - one of three re-engined Volga-Dnepr machines that can still operate in the west without the need for special exemption. Note the '20 years' markings, carried on the tail instead on the other side

First registered in 1937 as G-AERN and operated post-war by BEA amongst others, this Rapide was exported to Spain in 1954 to become EC-AKO. Restored from 2003, apparently to represent one of three armed DH.89Ms flown by the Spanish AF on policing duties in Morocco pre-war

Quite a rare shot - although this Eight joined FT in 1.87, she continued to fly under the original Trans International registration N4865T until 6.89, but became N402FE with the FedEx take-over in 1.90. To UPS at the end of that year (N803UP), re-reg N155CA 12.09 on lease to National A/l. Stored at Roswell, NM in 2013

Running back to the sea to pick up more water to fight an outbreak of fire in the hills near Split. Summer 2007 was a very bad season for fires on the Croatian coast. This was the first of six CL-415s supplied to Croatia, in 1997; the most recent arrived in early 2010. Initially civil-registered, they were transferred to the Air Force in 2002 and are based at Zadar. Three of the older piston-engined CL-215s were used until replaced by the turboprops in 2004

Way up at the top of the list of things I hoped to shoot in SA was one of these. Incredibly lucky as an Air Zimbabwe pilot's strike ended a couple of days before. Seen here departing for Bulawayo, this is one of three - apparently China made a 'buy two get one free' deal. Of these, Z-WPJ was seriously damaged after collision with five warthogs during take-off at HRE on 3.11.09
