With this Fokker Universal, Bert Acosta and Emile Burgin intended to retake the world endurance record which Clarence Chamberlin and Acosta had held briefly earlier in 1927. The attempt either did not happen or failed. The crash of this F.10 airframe in Kansas one year later accelerated Anthony Fokker's downfall in the USA as one of the eight victims was celebrity football coach Knute Rockne. The Fokker's wooden wing presumably failed due to moisture damage. Western Air Express had by then become part of TWA. Built in 1929 and beautifully restored to airworthiness, AAM was finally retired to the Western Canada Aviation Museum a couple of years ago. The landing gear bungee system is interesting. AAM has operated on floats skiis and wheels.

Destroyed in a hangar fire at Essendon on February 28, 1939.

VH-UTJ crashed at Alexishafen on August 6, 1939. It was being operated by the Catholic Mission.
