A gorgeous airworthy 1917 Curtiss Jenny in the off-the-beaten-track Stonehenge Air Museum in Northwest Montana. Its service history is unknown.

One of the most famous of all US aircraft is the Curtiss JN-4D Jenny, with more than 90% of American pilots during WWI receiving their primary instruction on the type. This example, one the first 25 of 585 built under licence by the Springfield Aircraft Corporation of Springfield, MA is on display at the Smithsonian NASM's Udvar-Hazy Center. It had been briefly in use as a US Air Service trainer at Hazelhurst Field at Mineola, NY before being acquired by the museum in Nov. 1918.

The Jenny became the US's most famous WWI training aeroplane and by the time production ended more than 6,000 had been delivered, the majority of them JN-4Ds. After WWI, hundreds were sold as surplus to civilians with many Jennies continuing flying into the 1930s. This example is on display at the National Museum of the USAF.

The Curtiss Jenny was the great American pilot maker in WWI, and then the mount of the barnstormers. This is a largely original aircraft restored to airworthy status.
