This Talon was leased to Taiwan from 1994 until 1998, serving there as 3832, and stored for a short while at Randolph thereafter. Returned to service, switching units quite often. Seen here with the 435th FTS Black Eagles, doing pattern- and airwork as Hurry 1.

The 12th Flying Training Wing is the parent organisation for several Groups with different tailcodes, including the 12th Operations Group to which all RA coded Flying Squadrons at Randolph report.

The 559th FTS Billy Goats is an instructor pilot training unit, so this solo student was possibly refining his/her skills on the T-6A, using call sign Prey 22.

San Antonio International is only 18 km (11 mi) west of Randolph and N7867A in the background had just been turned to downwind to land there. The photo subject was doing close pattern work as Spur 33.

A 99th FTS machine at Randolph for all of its service time, operated in a grey livery before being resprayed white (again?). Received the red tailband, plus Tuskegee Airmen titles under the windscreen on the other side, in Summer 2007. Withdrawn from use and to AMARC six weeks after the photo date.

Seen during circuit training as Brew 69. Built as T-38A, rebuilt to T-38C by Boeing at Williams Gateway (AZ) like its stablemates.

The 340th FTG ressorts under the 12th FTW but is an Associate unit to the 14th FTW at Columbus AFB (MS). Aircraft are borrowed as needed. Launching here as Sully 1, this jet has the tailband of 435th FTS but without the Black Eagle itself. Serial in tiny print at the bottom of the tailfin.

Tracer 1 launching on its second training flight this day, including airwork and an approach at Lackland AFB on the other side of town. Built as a T-38A and rebuilt to to a C model in February 2002.

The only non-red tail RA coded Jayhawk of the six I saw within a few days, departing on a 2h10' training flight. Served from April 1995, initially at Vance AFB (OK) and later at Randolph AFB (TX). Made its last journey under own power on 25 June 2024 to Albany (NY), to be used as a maintenance trainer by the Hudson Valley Community College.

Delivered to the USAF as MATS C-118A 53-3279 in August 1955; via MASDC to the US Navy as 533279 in March 1976. Again to MASDC in February 1985 (8C041) and placed on display, marked 0-33279. To N578AS in 1986 and operational in Florida early 1990s. Bought by Nighthawk Air Systems in 1995, leased to the Radial Reminiscence Preservation Group in Oakland (CA) for restoration in full United colours. Back to Nighthawk after lack of funds, flown to Texas, CofA renewed twice for NX578AS and eventually stored here. Just United's Mainliner Oakland emblem remains on the nose.
