Canadian-built as KB976, put into RCAF postwar Search and Rescue service with Air Transport Command. Retired to an Alberta museum in 1964. Bought by Northwestern Air Lease in 1969 and converted for fire-fighting as CF-TQC, with a short retardant- bombing spell in 1971. Purchased by Sir William Roberts in 1974 for his Strathallan Collection. Ferried trans-Atlantic from St Albert, Alberta to Glasgow in May 1975, then to Strathallan on its last-ever flight, in June 1975.

This Lancaster B10 was modified with the long camera nose around 1953 to Lancaster Mk.10 AR (for Area Reconnaisance) and operated by 408 (P) Sqn.The Lancaster was retired in 1964. French navy Lancaster WU13 is seen here parked on the western side of the airfield of Wellington while still being operated by 9S. Around February 27th or 28th 1964, she flew from Wellington to Auckland and then back to Noumea, where she was based. Less than two months later, this aircraft flew back to Auckland Whenuapai where it was handed over to the Museum of Transport & Technology in Auckland on April 15th 1964. On that day, WU15 was present as well to ferry back the crew of WU13. By then, WU13 had been fitted with 0.5-inch machine guns in all turrets. Since then, WU13 has been preserved there in RAF WWII colour scheme and markings as NX665.

This magnificent aircraft is the focal point of the museum but unfortunately also the meeting point (as can be seen from the sign) making a photograph with no-one on it very difficult to get. After a long wait I managed to get this.

This aircraft is operated as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and at the time it was the only airworthy Lancaster in the world. It has worn a variety of codes over the years and is seen here landing as AJ-G though this was before it had been named.

A unique and wonderful sight, as the two remaining airworthy Lancasters bank left after flying down the crowd line at Southport. KB726, from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, flies behind the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's PA474. Both Lancasters were built in 1945.
