Australia's DCA (Department of Civil Aviation) operated this machine primarily in New Guinea and registered to them 14 April 1961. The aircraft was destroyed at Bankstown after several owners on 16 September 1982. The cause was a student pilot deliberately crashing his aircraft into VH-CAC.

This Wirraway was not brought on RAAF charge, as A20-722, until right at the very end of the Second World War, in August 1945. It served until 1958 when it was sold and eventually recovered from a farm near Horsham, Vic. It was restored to flying condition by Borg Sorensen between 1984 and 2002. Registered VH-CAC(4), it made its first post-restoration flight on 8 June 2002. It made its last flight on 28 April 2018 on delivery to the Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre.

VH-CAC Spent most of its life with the Department of Civil Aviation in Port Moresby, New Guinea. It was sold to Executive Air Services, Essendon. Here it is seen in Confederate Airways livery. it was destroyed by fire after a pilot deliberately plunged a Tobago into an aircraft parking area on September 16, 1982.

VH-CAC was part of the Department of Civil Aviation fleet from 1961 to 1972 based in Papua New Guinea. It was destroyed on September 16, 1982 when Socata Tobago VH-BXC was deliberately flown into it when parked at Bankstown airport.
