This aeroplane started life in 1940 as a DH82A and died in 1977, registered as VH-BJI. It has been converted to a Moth Major DH60MIII in accordance with DH design drawings uncovered by Stanfield Smith in NZ. This is the tubular metal fuselage version of the Moth Major DH60GIII and believed to be the first flying example. De Havilland designed but did not build this model. The metal tube fuselage designed for the DH60MIII became the DH82 Tiger Moth.
