G-AGRE was built as a Tudor I. It was rebuilt as a Tudor IVB with a longer fuselage and delivered to British South American Airways as "Star Ariel". G-AGRE vanished without trace on January 17, 1949 over the western Atlantic between Bermuda and Kingston, Jamaica. The prototype Tudor was assembled and tested at Ringway in 1945/46. It is seen preparing for another flight in Spring 1946 with several Barracuda Vs on Faireys apron (right). Became VX192 and withdrawn at Woodford in March 1949. Image taken, with permission, from private cine film.

Freddie Laker's Air Charter Ltd operated this ex-BSAAC Tudor 1 from its Stansted base between August 1954 and retirement in August 1956.
