It remained owned by Beech in various guises until 2000 when it was re-registered N786BP to 86 BP Inc. In 2003 Beech began buying back all the Starships to reduce the support burden, and this aircraft was purchased from disposal agents Evergreen in 2004 by Pay's Air Service in Australia for its engines. Ferried from Scone to Caloundra on 24 November 2004, where the engines were removed and the airframe became a training aid. Acquired by QAM in January 2015.

The aircraft had brought in passengers to attend the 1998 British F1 Grand Prix which was held at the nearby Silverstone Circuit on that date.

With Burt Rutan onboard, this beautiful Starship arrived on the first day of Airventure.

The somewhat odd looking Beech Starship saw limited succes and only 53 were built. The sale and production of the aircraft was stopped in 2003 and for this example it ended up in the collection of the Kansas Aviation Museum.

Built in 1991 and operated for Image America out of Saint Louis (MO). Bought back by Raytheon in June 2004, as they did with many other Starships. Sometime between May 2005 and September 2011 the aircraft was acquired by the museum. The story of the Starship is a special one and I for one am disappointed that the aircraft didn't become more popular.

On our first full day at Airventure we saw this unique Beech Starship arrive. I knew the amount of them still flying was very limited, so you can imagine the surprise (and then joy) I had! Although it's pretty hard not to enjoy Airventure of course.

The Starship was the first all composite pressurized aircraft. Unfortunately it did not achieve much commercial success.

N786BP was imported by Pay's Air Services, which had bought it for its engines from Beech's collection of stored Starships at Marana. It was flown across the Pacific. The airframe went to a technical college at Caloundra to give students experience on composite structures. When the college closed, the aircraft passed to the museum.
