29 May 44: TOS USAAF as C-47A. 6/44: 9th Air Force, European Theater. 9/45: Returned to USA. 8/46: Leased to Pioneer Air Lines, Dallas, TX with c/r N54729. Reconfigured with airline interior. 3/52: TOS USAF as C-117C. 2/71: Indiana Department of Civil Defense, Indianapolis, with c/r N11ND. 1973: USAF Museum Loan Program, placed on display Indianapolis. 1974: Vincennes University, Vincennes, IN with c/r N11VU. Beginning 1975: Several owners with N36AP. 4/06: Basler Turbo Conversions, Oshkosh, WI. Converted to BT-67 with turbo-props. 8/12: Exported to Canada.

Although stored at the time this picture was taken this airframe was not only converted to a BT-67 but also a "geoscience mapping aircraft" for Fugro / CGG.

An unexpected visit from this jewel of aviation, with 79 years on its wings, still continues to soar through the skies. A spectacular aircraft.

To Basler Turboprop Conversions Jun 2012. To Fugro Aviation Aug 2012 as C-FAZO and later CCG Aviation as C-GGSU. Reported as stored in 2018.

Geophysical survey aircraft with, obviously, a long history. Originally a 1944 C-47, she saw military and civil use, was converted to C-117 standard and even put on display in the 1970s, but brought back into air freight operations. Apart from the sensors at the nose, the 'Turbo Dak' was fitted here with a Magnetic Anomaly Detection boom at the tail.

A very nice visitor! Initialy delivered to USAAF in May 1944 and assigned to 9th AF. Later used as civilian for Pioneer Airlines as N54729. Back to USAF inventory as C-117 C until 1952. Operated in 1971 by Indiana Department of Civil Defense as N11ND. Returned to USAF in 1973 as C-117C and placed on display at Vincennes University. Finally put in airworthy conditions again and converted in Basler BT-67 in 2012 and operated now by CGG Aviation for geophysical survey services to the oil gas and mineral.

Built as C-47A 42-93518 for the USAAF. Loaned to Pioneer from June 1946 until July 1952 and named "Sam Houston". Returned to the USAF and modified to C-117C standard. Still active as N36AP in 2006. Stored at Oshkosh by Basler from 2006 to date. Photo obtained 60 years ago.
