Taxiing past in pre-production livery at Flying Legends 2011. This final production s/n 44-53254 Lightning was built as a P-38L-5-LO at Burbank in 1944 which was similar to the late production P-38J, but powered by 1,600 hp Allison V-1710-F30R or -F30L engines. The aircraft was converted at the Dallas Modification Center in 1945 to an F-5G-6-LO Photo Lightning with a redesigned nose housing forward oblique, K-17 oblique and K-18 vertical cameras. It was sold into private hands after the war, modified as a racer and went to different owners. The aircraft was sold to Flying Bulls in 2004.

On the flight line at Flying Legends 2011. This Yak-9 was built by Strela Aircraft Co. in Orenburg with an Allison V-1710 engine as the Klimov M-105PF was rare to find. The Yakolevs were the best of the big three Soviet fighter designs, Yaks accounting for half the Russian fighters built from 1941-45. About similar in performance to the Bf-109, the Yak-9 could more than hold its own below 15,000 feet.

"Berlin-Tempelhof" taxiing in at Flying Legends 2011. Floatplane D-AQUI was named "Fritz Simon" and after ace "Kurt Wintgens". The Ju-52 was used all over Europe and Asia and was the flagship for Deutsche Lufthansa, which bought them by the dozen. It could carry 17 passengers or three tons of freight. Most of Lufthansa's fleet was requisitioned during World War II. Despite the desperate situation, Lufthansa continued flying till the end of the war, operating Ju-52/3m D-AFFF into Flensburg on 5 May 1945.
