Pictured in the lovely Golden Hour at a remote airfield in New Mexico, Some 25 Turbo Mentors of TAW-4 "G"-coded, based at NAS Corpus Christi (TX), and TAW-5 "E"-coded based at NAS Whiting Field-North (FL), were enjoying a winter class course in New Mexico. This G-702 was retired from the Naval Air Training Command by 30 April 2012. The Turbo Mentor is preserved at Priceville (AL) since April 2017. BuNo 164173 was the very last T-34C delivered to the US Navy. They used some 350 of these trainers.

Became N5538V, and from '61 owned by Star Flite Inc as N706ME (named Initiator V). Cvtd by On Mark Engineering Co at Van Nuys (CA) '63-'64 and served WR Bailard, Ventura (CA) from '66-'72 as N36BB (as Coastal Luck IV). Sold to Micky Rupp, Mansfield (OH) '74 as N26MR, then Sherman Aircraft Sales from Jan'75 as N26WB. Then several owners up to '92. Became N706ME with Lane Ethridge/Nostalgia Inc., Denton (TX) but still as N26WB. Active from Las Cruses up to '09, then stored.
