On display in the Great Gallery at the Museum of Flight in the markings of the 389th TFS, 366th TFW based at Da Nang AB in Vietnam. The wing earned the nickname "Gunfighters" after successfully modifying the 20mm SUU-16 Gatling gun pod to the centreline of its Phantoms on the insistence of Korean War ace Frederick "Boots" Blesse. Using this interim solution, Speedo flight scored the first ever F-4 gun victories against two NVAF MiG-17s on 14 May 1967, leading to 8th TFW adopting the gun pod. This Phantom is credited with three MiG-21 kills in 1967 while serving with 389th TFS.

Rare early picture of 389th TFS aircraft being prepared for another combat mission over Vietnam. The 389th TFS operated under the 366th TFW at Da Nang AB until June 1969, when the unit moved to the 12th TFW at Phu Cat AB. In 1968, the 366th TFW carried individual tailcodes. The 389th had tailcodes starting with A, like this AH, the 390th TFS started with B and the 480th TFS had tailcodes starting with C. This aircraft crashed while taking off from Da Nang AB on 28 November 1968.
