Ex 42-23936 (USAAF), OK-WDU, OK-WZB, 23936 (US Navy), F-YGGC, F-GEOM. When the aircraft was flown to the Aviodrome in 2006, it was planned to operate for scenic flights. After the 2011 bankruptcy of the Aviodrome, the aircraft was acquired by Classic Wings as a volunteer restoration project. Paperwork and financial issues proved too much of a hurdle and the aircraft was transported to the Warmuseum in Overloon (The Netherlands) in December 2017. This museum can be visited for free by bicycle riders as an elevated bike path runs through the museum!

"This Horsa Glider is a replica of the aircraft that were used during the Second World War. Special about this device is that original parts have been used to complete it. There are only two of these around the world. Approximately four thousand Horsa Gliders were produced until 1946. None of these devices have been preserved. That is why this exact replica with original parts is a very special asset to the museum" according to the Warmuseum website

South Coast Airways titles faintly visible

Supermarine Spitfire FR Mk.XVIIIe TP263, Displayed at the Overloon War Museum. Ex-Indian Air Force HS649, rebuilt to represent a Mk.XIVc. Painted with serial NH649, with the codes 3W-F of No. 322 (Dutch) Squadron RAF.

After RAF/RNLAF service it was used for ground instruction by the RNLAF at Deelen from 1947 until 1952, then displayed at Deelen until 1960 when it was moved to Overloon. From 1987 it was rebuilt at Rochester, UK, to flying condition and registered as G-MKXI on 13 November 1989. It was operated by the OFMC at Duxford from 1993 until it was damaged in a landing accident at Woodchurch on 2 June 1998. After repairs it was sold to the USA as N965RF in September 2001. It returned to the UK in 2004 and was restored as G-MKXI on 7 April 2004 with Hangar 11 at North Weald.

Built in 1941 as 41-30792. Served with the RAF as FR193 with 320 (Dutch) Squadron. After the war it was transferred to the Dutch Navy (MLD) and registered 1-3, 13-6 and finally 2-6 . Withdrawn from use in 1954 and used for ground instruction at Deelen, and then displayed at Overloon from 1959. It was restored in 1977, and is now displayed under cover in RAF marks as FR193 NO-L (320 Sqn colours) at the Marshall Museum, Overloon.

For a great many years this Spitfire was preserved in the open in the War and Resistance Museum Overloon before it was restored to flying condition.

Over the past decades the Oorlogsmuseum has been transformed into a warehouse packed with all kinds of military equipment. Some nice dioramas have been erected but in other corners the equipment is thus packed that one can hardly see what is collected. See also here to see how the Mitchell was shown in the old days.
