D-2160 was flown solo to Australia by Elly Beinhorn. She was flying around the world in sections, with the aircraft shipped when the water crossing was too great. D-2160 was returned by sea to Germany from Brazil. Beinhorn was acclaimed as a national hero on her return home. She subsequently undertook other long-distance flights but not in the Klemm, the fate of which is not known. Photo from: Library and Archives NT

The Klemm L 26 was a more powerful development of the L 25. This example was pictured over the Dresden district of Strehlen. The Sturm Cigarette Company was affiliated with the Nazi Party's Sturmabteilung (SA). SA troopers were told to smoke only this brand and the SA received royalties in return. The SA insignia is on the tailfin and the aircraft was registered to Arthur Dressler, the owner of the Dresden tobacco company. Photo by: Walter Hahn / SLUB / Deutsche Fotothek
