After WWII it was used in Germany, as a liason/support plane for the US Army. It was donated to the Italian AF and used as a basic trainer with the military serial number 52882 an finished its active life at Lucca in June 1980. In April 1991 it was found wrecked without an engine, propeller, landing gear, instruments, some structural parts, and subject to fire damage. This Museo Volandia is located and makes use of some of the original Caproni buildings. This Ca-18 is the sixth production aircraft, and accepted in March 1914 going on to serve with the 15th Squadriglia in April 1915 as the personal mount of Sub-Lieutenant Ettore Croce. It was initially preserved by the manufacturer, being displayed by the Caproni Museum in both Taliedo (1940) and Vizzola Ticino (1970-1986). It is owned by the Caproni family and recently underwent conservation work at Celin Avio.

Unfortunately, the disco lights were on for my visit in this hall: a few seconds later it was red, a few seconds before it was blue. The yellow phase is about the best compromise. This Starfighter also carried the serials DD233, DA248 and KF120 in its service life and was previously on display at the Militärhistorisches Museum - Flugplatz Berlin-Gatow.

In 1986, the governments of Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding to investigate an improved version of the A129, alternatively called the Joint European Helicopter Tonal or Light Attack Helicopter (LAH) with new powerplants, as well as a new rotor system, retractable landing gear, improved sensors and more powerful armament. However, the LAH project collapsed in 1990 following the UK and the Netherlands independently deciding to withdraw from the program and eventually procuring the AH-64 Apache instead. This mock-up (?) is on display at Volandia.

The C-22J was a light jet-powered military trainer similar in appearance to earlier Caproni gliders, although the Ventura had an almost entirely metal structure. The basic C22J trainer was exhibited at the Farnborough Air Show in 1980 and 1982, but failed to attract any orders and the program was dropped. A further proposed reconnaissance version, the C22R was not then built.

The Aeronautica Militare operated some 100 P-47s between December 1950 and March 1954. This example was built as 44-89746 and delivered to the Italians in March 1951. After being SOC it was used for ground instruction at Pisa University Engineering School from 1953-1973. It was then placed on display at Vigna di Valle but is currently undergoing long term restoration at Volandia.
