Nice to catch this superb exhibit in the sunshine outdoors. Built as a CC.1 and one of 39 Twin Pins which served with six RAF squadrons in the transport, supply dropping, photo survey and casualty evacuation roles (and even as a light bomber). Saw widespread active service in Aden from delivery to 78 Sqdn in 1958 till 1966 when she returned to the UK and now housed as part of the National Cold War Exhibition at Cosford

First flying on 07th March 1957, this was the 12th production Vulcan and last flew 19.11.65 when it was delivered to No.2 SoTT, Cosford. Became 7896M; to Cosford Aerospace Museum but controversially scrapped 1986 - the last intact B.1. But - not the last time a significant airframe would perish there when better could be expected

Based on the pioneering Hawker P.1127 VTOL aircraft, the Kestrel was a development operated by the Tripartite Evaluation Squadron in 1965, based at RAF West Raynham and comprising crews from the UK, USA and West Germany, hence the unique markings seen here. They used nearby abandoned airfields for testing on unprepared runways and on grass. Nine were built before progress onto the fully-fledged Harrier GR.1. XS695 has been superbly restored and was placed on display at the start of 2014

The H.126 was a simple research aircraft built to test the concept of blown flaps for improved low-speed flight characteristics. The wing struts served to feed compressed air from the Orpheus engine to the nozzles fitted along the trailing edge and on the wing tips.

The H.126 was a simple research aircraft built to test the concept of blown flaps for improved low-speed flight characteristics. The wing struts served to feed compressed air from the Orpheus engine to the nozzles fitted along the trailing edge and on the wing tips.

Named after a college at Oxford, the Balliol advanced trainer was intended as a Harvard replacement but only saw brief service with the RAF, powered by the Merlin piston engine although the Mamba turboprop had been intended. The Sea Balliol had folding wings and an arrester hook, and 30 examples were built for the FAA.
