This aircraft has carried a number of different codes during its time with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. However there is one major difference in this photograph to the state of the aircraft today, the absence of the mid-upper gun turret. One was located at a Woodford Airshow as a result of a jokey request from the commentator. PA474 was built at Chester by Vickers-Armstongs in September 1945.

One of the Patrouille de France aircraft arriving for the Woodford Airshow held the following day. This was my place of work where photography was forbidden, a rule most people ignored the day before the Airshow. The slide has faded really badly but has recovered to an almost unbelievable degree with the miracle of Photoshop.

This aircraft has changed its codes ever few years and is shown here with the codes carried in the mid 1970s. Nimrods were still under construction at that time at this airfield and one can be seen on the engine mufflers to the left of this image.

This is a view of Terminal 1 and control tower at Orly as seen from Terminal 2. The airport seems unusually lacking in aircraft on this photograph. A TWA Boeing 707, two Air France Boeing 727s and a 707 are visible. Two Air France Boeing 747s can also be seen, with differing fin markings. Both terminals had good viewing terraces
