Our resident Fokker F28 fire trainer was towed out behind the AC South hangar once again for YVRs annual emergency training exercise last week.

This Fokker F28 started out its life with Garuda Indonesia before migrating to North America where it saw service with Piedmont Airlines, US Air, Canadian Regional and finally Air Canada Regional. After retirement it sat at YVR before becoming the airports fire training aircraft. It usually lives hidden from view in behind the Ops building but today it got towed out for the emergency exercises planned for tomorrow.

This Dash 8 was delivered to Air Ontario June 18, 1987 and occasionally leased to fellow Air Canada Commuter Air Alliance until Air Canada Regional / Jazz was formed in 2002. It's pictured during a rare (and short) sub-lease from Air Alliance to competitor Air Atlantic from May through July 1993 as the only exception. Air Canada Express withdrew aircraft from service in 2016.

Delivered to Eastern January 15, 1966 , N8143N was sold in June 1989 in a packager deal which saw the Eastern Airlines Shuttle operation go to Donald Trump. Re-registered N906TS August 1989, but after the failure of the Trump Shuttle, the aircraft was sold to Trans Service Airlift to become 9Q-CAV.

This former Canadian Regional Airlines Fellowship was withdrawn from use in September 2001 and stored at Vancouver with the registration painted over. It was still there in much the same situation by 2012, but by 2014 it had been donated to the airport authorities for use as a training aid for the airport fire services. It was still present at the airport by mid 2018.
