Canadian built aircraft with the enlarged bomb bay for 8000lb bombs. Once Boscombe Down finished its trial, KB783 went on the serve with 428 and 419 Squadrons, both Canadian units within Bomber Command. The aircraft returned to Canada postwar where it almost immediately suffered an accident at Yarmouth. Written off, it would serve two years as an instructional airframe before being scrapped. This aircraft served with No. 268 Squadron before being turned over to No. 1686 Bomber (Defence) Training Flight in 1943. The Tomahawk I was equivalent to a USAAF P-40 but with four wing guns instead of two. Found unsuitable by the RAF for combat and relegated to training. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

This is the third Lancaster modified for carrying the bouncing dam-busting bomb designed by Barnes Wallis. It was to be the reserve aircraft for 617 Sqn's May 16/17, 1943, raid but was used, flown by American-born RCAF pilot Joe McCarthy against the Sorpe Dam. Hit the target but the dam was not breached. ED825 was shot down on December 10, 1943 while on a mission over France to drop agents. All the crew were killed. McCarthy had been moved to another squadron by then. Highly decorated, he survived the war and died in 1998. Photo from: Imperial War Museums
