Reversing the trend of ex military Constellations being painted in civilian color schemes, this airplane will be restored to represent a military C-121 transport.

At the Air Mobility Command Museum restoration has started on this tired old girl.

The top of the fuselage was painted white this spring by museum volunteers. This pretty much completes the restoration of this aircraft at the Air Mobility Command Museum.

This aircraft is on display as B-17G 42-107112 "Sleepy Time Gal". In reality, it is B-17G 44-83624, which was at Wright Patterson AFB for many years. The AMC Museum received this aircraft in the late 1980's from WPAFB in trade for B-17G 42-32076 "Shoo Shoo Baby", which had been restored by the AMC Museum.

Museum was recently totally enclosed by a fence and is now open to the general public.

This veteran back-taxied the length of Dover AFB's 12,903 foot runway 32 and made the tight 180 degree turn prior to takeoff. Note the nosewheel position.

Retired in 1967, it was converted to a cocktail lounge in Penndel, PA. It was disassembled and donated to the AMC Museum in 1997. Its fake military serial number 40315 (54-0315) was assigned to a Northrop F-89H "Scorpion" fighter aircraft.

Air Mobility Command Museum. Since my last visit to the AMC Museum on 17 June 2007, the fuselage has been painted gray and cheat lines have been added. Transformation into a "quasi" C-121C should be complete in August.

With four 28-cylinder radials and two turbojets to manage, the flight engineer was a very busy man on this airplane.

This aircraft was the last C-133 produced and is nearing completion of a restoration program at the AMC Museum. The cargo ramp was scheduled to be installed the next day with wing and tail fairings shortly thereafter. Aircraft will be on display at the Dover AFB open house in late May 2002.

What a stroke of luck! During a visit to the AMC Museum, NASA's Super Guppy made a fuel stop at Dover AFB. She was returning to Houston after delivering an Osprey to Philadelphia.

In 2011 this C-54 was restored in its WWII Pacific Theater markings, which it still carried during Berlin Airlift service, by then the one of 38 'M' models converted for coal hauling. From 1973 was used for sky marshall training but joined the AMC Museum in 1989

My favourite exhibit at the superb AMC Museum. One of a handful surviving out of 50 built, the Cargomaster was designed as a long-range strategic airlifter, particularly for the transport of ICBMs. All were withdrawn in 1971 when metal fatigue was found. This example was delivered to the 1501ATW (MATS) at Travis AFB, CA in 4.61, the unit becoming 60MAW in 1966. This A-26 was acquired from the Eagles Air Museum (part of the Bonanzaville Museum and Historic Village) in Fargo, ND by the AMC Museum in Aug 2008 for restoration and placed on display soon after. Most sources incorrectly quote the aircraft as c/n 28802 ex N3428G (ex USAAF 44-35523), due to a mistake by the Eagles Air Museum in Fargo. This is why it is also falsely painted as such. Its true identity however is 44-35552 c/n 28831 ex N5544V. It's

This Provider was taken on charge in 1957 as a C-123B and served in Vietnam from 1961 to 1972, first as a UC-123B and later as a UC-123K when the auxiliary J85 jets were added, flying low-level defoliant and insecticide spray missions and cargo deliveries into strips as short as 2,000ft. Stored at Davis-Monthan from 1976 but reactivated for the Peruvian police on drug interdiction work under US Department of State registration N97033 from 1987 (nicknamed "El Burro"), prior to preservation at Dover in 1990. Serial presentation "AF40-658" is of course nonsense and should have read "AF54-658".

A total of 888 C-97s were built, of which 814 were KC-97 tankers. 53-0230 was assigned to the Strategic Air Command in 1955 at Westover AFB, Mass. In 1965 it was converted to KC-97L status at Hayes Aircraft Corp, Birmingham, AL, by the addition of two J47 jet engines and transferred to the Tennessee ANG. To MASDC for storage in 1976 and transferred to the AMC Museum in 10.99

Converted from AT-11 bombardier trainer by Beech in 1953. Acquired by CIA airline Air America in 1960, registered N7950C and operated across SE Asia till 1975, hauling supplies and refugees to remote locations. After several accidents during this period, including an in-flight collision, it was used temporarily for spare parts in Bangkok but was finally assigned to Tainan, Taiwan.
