slide scan from the NK collection. - In addition to two leased BAC-1-11s from the British register, Germanair operated six of the type from 1969 till 1977, two ex Pan International and four new ones. D-AMOR still displays the old colours, which were replaced by a more blue and red scheme a year later.

slide from the NK collection. - Germanair leased this One-Eleven for the 1974 season and kept the original yellow colours of Courtline. As Courtline went bankrupt in August 1974, the aircraft was handed over to DAN-AIR after lease, and this airline should be the final operator for the aircraft. Registered as G-BCWA it was wfu in 1992 at Southend and broken up a few years later.

Germanairs D-AMUR flew five years for the company before being sold to Philippine Airlines. 18 years later, registered as RP-C1185, the airliner had the honor to perform the last scheduled BAC 1-11 flight for Philippine on 30/MAY/92. Sold to European as VR-BEA, it was used as a source of spares at Bournemouth until scrapped in 2000. - slide from the NK collection.

Slide taken by the late Norbert Kröpfl. - About 50 years ago, the Fokker 28 was very popular with German charter airlines, and they bought a total of 11 new aircraft (Aviaction 3, Germanair 4, and LTU 4). Summer holiday destinations in the Mediterranean were within the range capability of the small airliner, but the preferred winter holiday spots like Canary Islands could not be reached nonstop, and the Fokkers were mostly parked idle in the snow in Germany. So, all of them had been sold by 1977; this one continued flying with ITAVIA and ended up with Canadian Regional as C-GCRN.

Prior to the merger with Bavaria, so Germanair titles only. It was converted to an A300B4-2C in January 1977. Also flew with Hapag-Lloyd after a further merger.

The BAC-111 was quite important on European Inclusive Tour routes in the early Seventies. Germanair's D-AMAT, British Midland's G-AXLM and Dan-Air G-ATPL all using the ventral stairways. We were waiting for our BAC-111 to Heathrow, Cambrian's G-AVGP....our Honeymoon jet, you could say!!

Delivered to Paninternational in 6.69 and sold by Hapag-Lloyd to Austral as LV-PEW in 11.79, quickly becoming LV-MZM. Now used by a technical school at Morón near Buenos Aires
