The aircraft had flown into Palm Springs International Airport (KPSP) and then taxied the 1¼ miles thought the city streets to be exhibited at the AOPA Convention. It is parked here at N Calle Alvarado on the westside of the Center.

The aircraft had been used as a freighter by Air Chathams but was withdrawn from use in 2008 and used as a spares source to support the operation of the rest of their Convair 580 fleet. In January 2014 the aircraft was removed by road to a local recycling centre and removed from the NZ register the same month.

This aircraft served with the South African Air Force and was sold to Flight Systems Inc. for target drone conversion before being purchased for civilian use.

The aircraft is now exhibited at Palm Springs Air Museum, CA., painted in a wartime USAAF colour scheme and named "Miss Angela".

The aircraft was cancelled from the FAA register in November 2014 but had been stored at Jerome County Airport, ID., since at least June 2003, and checking on Google Earth it was still there in August 2020.

The aircraft was sold to Hirth Air Tankers in March 1991 but was destroyed on 20th April 1997 when it crashed whilst fighting a wildfire near Blandburg, PA., killing both occupants, one of which was the company owner John Hirth.

The aircraft was re-registered N171LG in 1984, confusingly the second time those marks had been used for an aircraft of this type, but was lost on 2 August 1995 when it ditched in the Atlantic whilst en-route from Orlando, FL., to Freeport in The Bahamas. The pilot radioed that he had a fire on board but debris later recovered showed no evidence of fire and the main wreckage has never been located.

The aircraft was later converted to a QF-106 drone and was shot down by AIM-7M missile over the Gulf of Mexico on 22nd Sept 1992.

Built in 1943 as a USAAF C-60A this aircraft served with the Royal Australian Air Force as A67-5 in WWII and post war was civilianised, firstly as VH-GRB, and later VH- OAS. It returned to the USA in 1953 as N4849V and later carried the registrations N667, N1000S and N101S. In 1959 it was converted to Howard 250 standard and was sold to Mexico in 1967 where it was registered XB-SAO. It returned to the US register as N2786Y in December 1982 and flown to Albuquerque, where it was reported as "stored" in October 1986. This aircraft had its moment of fame in 1995 when it was seen by millions on TV when it was used as the support aircraft for the ill-fated expedition to recover the Boeing B-29 "Kee Bird" from northern Greenland, note that it still retained the name "Kee Bird II" on the front fuselage. (The footage is still available on YouTube). It lingered on at OPF and was damaged by a tornado in February 1998 and is thought to have been scrapped there early in the new century.

Originally N6260C "Clipper Westwind" with Pan American, it was once familiar as YA-DAO with Ariana Afghan Airlines on its weekly trips to Gatwick, and later as HR-TNQ at Miami with TAN Airlines. Sadly, its career ended in 1983 when it was impounded for smuggling at Great Inagua in the Bahamas.
