Delivered to the US Navy as R5O-6 39619. Sold as NC79081 in 1946. Reregistered as N79081 after 1948 then N508S in 1961. Modified to a Howard 250 in 1967. Reregistered N5088 in 1969. Scrapped at Chino in 1993.

Built in 1943 as a USAAF C-60A this aircraft served with the Royal Australian Air Force as A67-5 in WWII and post war was civilianised, firstly as VH-GRB, and later VH- OAS. It returned to the USA in 1953 as N4849V and later carried the registrations N667, N1000S and N101S. In 1959 it was converted to Howard 250 standard and was sold to Mexico in 1967 where it was registered XB-SAO. It returned to the US register as N2786Y in December 1982 and flown to Albuquerque, where it was reported as "stored" in October 1986. The only additional, but unconfirmed, information I have found is that it was impounded in The Bahamas in 1984 and stayed there until scrapped. What a sad ending for this beautiful aircraft.

Built as a C-60 for the USAAF in 1943 then civilianized and converted to Howard 250 standard with long nose and panoramic windows being the most obvious features. In 1974 it was registered as N100GP. It got wrecked on 21 February 1977 after a take-off was attempted with ice on the wings at Truckee/CA.

While Howard Aero's Lockheed conversions focused mainly on the PV-1 Ventura, the Howard 250 was a successful conversion of the earlier Lockheed Lodestar. This aircraft left the production line as 42-55873 for delivery to the RCAF with serial 551. After 1946, the Lodestar flew as a business aircraft and was converted in 1963. Seized for running drugs in 1976, the airplane was auctioned off a year later and is pictured when owned by Atlas Aircraft Corporation, an aircraft parts dealer. It was again seized for drug running in April 1984 with a new owner and impounded at Nassau, Bahamas.
