On 31 December 2020, the Ejército del Aire (EdA, Spanish Air Force) officially ceased operations with the Lockheed Hercules. The tanker/transporter has been operated by Ala de Transporte 31 (Ala 31) at Zaragoza air base since 1974. Here one is seen on the taxiway of Kabul during an operational deployment to Afghanistan. On 29 Dec 2020 this Herc arrived at Cuatro Vientos, for display at the Museo del Aire.

Several unmarked Mi-8s flew secretive missions over Afghanistan. The helicopters were parked on an isolated platform. Personnel nearby were often very cagey in their behaviour. But sometimes... the helicopters were parked only the lonely, the moment for a picture taken from a passing car... The small HIP fleet was linked to the Blackwater, an American private military company. This olive drab coloured HIP is still unidentified.

In basic Trans Avia Export pictured at Kabul. The Il-76 became damaged beyond economical repair on 9 Mar'07 during a flight from Entebbe to Mogadishu. On its final approach to Mogadishu (at a flight level of some 120-150 metres) it was hit by a Rocket Propelled Grenade fired by Islamic rebels from a small boat. The RPG hit the fuselage near the left main landing gear and caused a fire, the crew managed to land the Il-76 safely. The a/c was cannibalised, and parts were to be flown out by Il-76TD EW-77849 on 23 Mar'07. That 849 was shot down during departure... 826 was fully scrapped by nov'12.

This H-47 was once delivered to the US Army as CH-47C with serial 68-15846. It was converted to CH-47D with serial 88-00101 and redelivered on 25 Nov'89. It served for quite a long time - until '11 - the US Army in Europe from Coleman Barracks (Germany). When 101 was deployed to Dublin in support of President Obama's visit to Ireland, it was damaged during its landing in bad weather. The helo was then picked up by an USAF C-17A on 3 Jun'11 and flown back to USA. Luckily, it was inducted into the CH-47F conversion programme, cvtd to CH-47F as 11-08095. On this picture it served F/159th AVN.

This aircraft was on the UN sanction list from December 1999. In 2005 it was seen stored / withdrawn from use in a corner of the civil platform of Kabu International Airport. It was still seen as such by late 2017, in a even worse condition. The famous Soviet Transport database reports that this is the sole Taliban time survivor. It was still listed in the Ariana register during November 2011 with no valid CofA. The current fate is unknown.

This is former US Army 73-23137. The C-12C was transferred to the civil market in Oct'99 as N200ET and served the hazy Dynamic Aviation Group Inc. (Oct'99 - June'03) and the even hazy Airserv International (Jun'03-Mar'07). Funny to see the Beech here with PacTec titels, a ECHO European Union sticker and covered cabin windows in Feb'06. Food for thought... anyway, in Mar'07 it started to fly with Missionary Aviation Fellowship USA. Transferred to hazy Dynamic AvLease Inc. from Jun'09 and incompany re-registered to N43A in May'10. All these hazy companies are related to US govermental agencies.

A 1988 Airbus Industries built A310. The buzz was delivered as F-WWBN in Aug'88 and only started to fly commercially with Cyprus Airways (1947) as 5B-DAX from Feb'89. The aircraft was withdrwan from use by the Cypriotic company in Apr'03, but picked up by Eagle Aviation in August 2003. It started to fly as F-GYYY. Transferred to Ariana Afghan Airlines with the same registration from Dec'05. Only some half a year later, the A310 was transferred as VP-BTM with S7 Airlines that operated the wide-body till Dec'10. It is since that month permanently withdrawn from use at Crestview (FL).

This Dominie was badly damaged on 23 April 2013 while parked at Kandahar (Afghanistan). A huge hailstorm damaged this aircraft as well as about eighty (!) US Army aircraft/helicopters. ZD704 was deemed unable to fly, and the USAF supported the British Forces in dismantling the aircraft so it could be transported back to the UK. An RAF assessment resulted in damaged beyond economical repair. The CC3 was stored at St.Athan up to Nov'14, then stored with Marshalls at Hawarden till Jan'15. It became an instructional airframe at the Defence Fire Training & Development Center at Manston from Oct'15.

This unmarked Globe Jet Airlines Tristar was last reported permanently withdrawn from use at Sebha, Libya. It was last noted on 28 January 2016, together with two other Tristars. In April 2020 one of the three was destroyed by the ongoing civil war while the other two are in a really bad shape (see 26°58'58.10"N-14°27'33.90"E)
