Crashed near St Vincent de Paul Home (near Luqa) during a raid over Malta on 1 April 1942. Unteroffizier Hans Pilz was at the controls, pursuing an RAF fighter at low level when his Bf.109F took hits, presumably from ground fire, and bellied in on a farm. The remains of the aircraft apparently buried at the crash site. Pilz survived the crash relatively unscathed, despite the aircraft flipping on its back; he spent the rest of the war in a POW camp. The remains were found when the site was being excavated on 21 February 2023 and are now at the Malta Aviation Museum.

Flying reduced replica (82% of the original size) of Messerschmitt Bf-109 built in Czech Republic by Tomáš Podešva and his team.

Former Spanish Air Force C.4K-135. Sold in 1966 and used for parts for Buchons flown in the film The Battle of Britain. Shipped to Big Spring, TX in 1968 then shipped to Manching, West Germany in 1975 and rebuilt as a Bf109G-6. First flew after rebuild in 1982. Crashed on takeoff from Manching in 1983. Rebuilt using the fuselage of c/n 156 and flew again in 1986. Reregistered as D-FMBD in 2019.

This aircraft was delivered to the Luftwaffe on 28th November, 1939. It force landed on a frozen lake on the Kola Peninsular and sank when the ice thawed. It was recovered in 1993 and restored in Hungary before being transferred to the Technical Museum in Berlin.

Red 6 recovered in 2003 on display at Planes of Fame. Built in 1939 as an E-1, this combat veteran participated in the Battle of France and BoB. It was converted to an E-7, carrying a 300L drop tank or as a Jabo with an ETC 50 or ETC 500 bomb rack. The Emil went to newly formed II./JG 5 'Eismeer' on 22 Mar 1942 at Petsamo and was flown by Lt. Wulf-Dieter Widowitz. While on an escort mission, it was shot down on 4 Apr 1942 by a 2nd GIAP Hurricane Mk.IIb. Widowitz put the aircraft down on a frozen lake. The 36-victory ace was killed on 28 Jul 43 while piloting a Go-145A from Kirkenes to Petsamo.

Long term restoration project. In 2018 registration D-FMGV was assigned.

Unfortunately 'BB' did not take part in the flying display at the EADS family day.

These substantial remains were recovered during excavations for building work in Luqa in February 2023. According to the Malta Aviation Museum, Werk Nummer 8668, which is carried on the wing root, corresponds to a Bf 109F-4/Z of 5/JG3 which crashed during a raid over Malta on April 1st, 1942. The third Bf 109, first flown in June 1937. Jumo 210 engine, two 7.92-mm machine guns. Prototype for the Bf 109A batch which was tested in the Spanish Civil War.
