Carrying home base tailband "Bragg Pope", referring to both the Fort Bragg garrison and Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina, in anticipation of a forthcoming merger. In March 2011, Pope AFB was formally realigned with Fort Bragg, being absorbed as Pope Field under Army control. First flight as C-130B in '58 as USAF 58-0712. Converted to C-130C. Moved to Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center with inventory code CF0001 on 1 Jans'68, but went in that same year to NASA Johnson as 929, modified to NC-130B. Registered as N929NA in Sep'69 and was used for the NASA Earth Survey 2 mission up to '79. Became NASA 707 and was transferred to Dryden Flight Research Center, but based at NASA Ames at NAS Moffett Field (CA). Became N707NA in Feb'82. By 2000, it was moved to Boulder and withdrawn from use at Jeffco City (CO). To AMARG on 4 Nov'00, N707NA canx on 20 Feb'13.

An early L-100 model, this Hercules was with ZAC Zambian Air Cargo as 9J-RBW from April 1966. Leased to Pacific Western Airlines in March 1969, the freighter was slightly damaged at Eureka, NWT in August. During repairs, it was converted to the longer L-100-20 and leased to Interior Airways / Alaska International Air as N109AK 1969 - 1974. Bought off lease by Pacific Western, it remained in the fleet until 1984 when sold to Saint Lucia Airways (J6-SLO). Registered N9205T with Tepper Aviation after September 1987, the aircraft crashed while landing at Jamba Airport , Angola on November 7, 1989.

Operated by VR-24 based at Sigonella in Sicily. The squadron was decommissioned in 1993. Delivered as a GV-1U and redesignated to a C-130F in 1962. Squadrons included VR-24 and later VR-22. Sunk as an artificial reef in March 1995.
