Former US Navy UH-34D 145738. Converted to an S-58T and registered as N64CH then P2-PDX in 1975, N64CH in 1976, N64KK in 2005 and N5UG in 2009. Cancelled from the register in 2020.

Hauling stuff to the roof of a newly constructed warehouse in Etna, east of Columbus along the old National Road. Great to see this bird again, especially at work. Now wearing the same orange/navy/white livery as her sister ships.

As noted in my comments with UH-34D H-5802 c/n 58.1173, that identity has often been attributed to this S.58T, but in fact this one remains unknown. The first UH-34Ds arrived in Indonesia in 1971 and in 1978 a programme of upgrading several of them to S.58T 'Twinpac' status began at Sakdron Teknik 016 Bandung, following the Sikorsky modification from piston engine to twin PT6T turbines. The fleet served actively in many local conflicts, several being lost. The last of the type was withdrawn in 2008 and this one was placed on display near the gate of the Adisutjipto airbase in September 2017

Always nice to see a classic helicopter, but you can imagine my surprise when I looked up this bird's history, and found out she once was used to ferry Argentine President Isabel Peron to safety during an attempted coup in 1976! She now has a much more sedate job as a heavy lifter.

Ex I-AGMI, N421A. Became G-BBLO with British Airways Helicopters on 4 October 1973, then restored as N8478 on 7 February 1974. Sold in Argentina as LV-AOA in 1981 and subsequently written off, no details known.

This inactive Sikorsky S-58T owned Helicopter Transportation Services was stored at Carp, ON prior to HTS selling its S-58 fleet to S. Korea in late 2019. It was delivered new to Humble Oil in May 1957 as N863 for offshore drilling support and operated by Rotor Aids from a large heliport in Grand Isle, LA. In Oct 1959, it was sold to Okanagan Helicopters in Canada in Oct. 1959 as CF-LWB and upgrade to a turbine S-58B/T 1971. It was owned by Helicsa in Spain (EC-CYJ) from 1976 until sold to the USA. Between 1991 and 2016, N47B, was operated by Air One, Air Crane and finally HTS.

This Sikorsky S-58T was flying scheduled passenger services between Manhattan's East 34th Street heliport (6N5) and JFK Airport in April 1984. After serving with the German Army and Navy since 1963, it was purchased by Sikorsky in 1973 for conversion to a S-58ET with a twin-turbine P&WC PT6T Twin Pac replacing the Wright R-1820 Cyclone. It flew with Air Greenland as OY-HBG, "Taliffak", between 1975 and 1982 until sold to the US. New York Helicopters (and its two sister companies) flew it 1982-1998. It was sold to St Louis Helicopters in Nov 1998 (for spare parts?) and canceled in July 1999.

This was photographed in a storage area and comprised the fuselage of a former Thai Navy S-58T, amalgamated with the tail section of a former Uruquayan Navy CH-34J Choctaw, serial number 064. Behind it sat another unidentified S-58 which wore US Marines titles.

An Indonesian air force Sikorsky S-58, alive and kicking! The old horse seemed to be based here as a base rescue helicopter.
