The OS2U was widely used during WWII for scouting and rescue duties. Launched by ship's catapult, they were recovered using a sea sled towed just below the surface. The aircraft would land in the wake, taxi to the sled and engage it with a hook on the bottom of the float before being craned aboard. This one was allocated BuNo 5926 but supplied in 1942 under Lend-Lease to the Armada Nacional del Uruguay with serial A-752. It was returned for preservation at Pensacola in 1971 and carries spurious serial 07534, in fact allocated to a Stearman

Some sources quote full serial of this rare exhibit as 09650. Notable for fixed undercarriage rather than floats.

This very rare aircraft, a Vought Sikorsky Kingfisher is one of only a few examples on display across the world. This example is at the Museo Nacional Aeronáutico y del Espacio and is marked as its service scheme in the Chilean Navy.

One very rare bird of which less than ten complete examples survive, Chilean Air Force OS2U-3 Kingfisher 314 is on display at Los Cerrillos. Ex Bu5925.

Del 15 March 1942 Preserved at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.

Built for the Netherlands but delivered to the RAAF after the Dutch East Indies fell to the Japanese. Fuselage, central float and tailplane ended up on a farm at Merbein, Victoria. Last reported location was with Precision Aerospace at Wangaratta.

Kingfisher built in 1940 and is displayed at NASM Dulles wearing the very early WW2 US Navy colour scheme.

Displayed inside the battleship "Alabama" at Mobile.

Delivered to the US Navy as Bu5926, then transferred to Uruguay through lend-lease agreements. Arrived at the National Naval Aviation Museum in 1971. Painted with fake serial 07534.

Flying this OS2U from the USS Indiana, Lt. j.g. Rollin M. Batten Jr. was awarded the Navy Cross for rescuing two downed aircrew under heavy Japanese fire on 4th July, 1944. The aircraft was earmarked for preservation in 1947 and, after a difficult five year restoration, is now on display at the Smithsonian NASM Udvar-Hazy Center.
