Central African Airways replaced their Vikings on the Zambezi service from Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia to London, UK with Viscounts in the late 1950s. VP-YNE was one of them. On 9 August 1958 it came to grief on approach to Benghazi in Libya. 36 people died in the accident.

When the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was dissolved in 1963, there were significant changes also in the airlines of the region. Central African Airways had been the federation's airline. Coming out of that airline, Zambia Airways, Air Malawi, and Air Rhodesia were established in the following years. CAA remained as a holding company and operated the aircraft on behalf of the three airlines. The actual operator was shown below the tail with interchangeable signs.

Built in 1956 and later passed on to Air Zimbabwe as Z-YNB. Scrapped in 2000.

Showing the name of Royal Mail Aircraft Shangani and both the Civil Air Ensign and CAA flag are flying. RMA Shangani was lost in an accident 29 March 1953 in what was then Tanganyika, now Tanzania.

This is most probably taken at Vickers' Wisely facility around delivery to Central African Airways in November 1946. She was later named Zambezi after the majestic river and used on the Zambezi service linking the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland with London.
