On display outside the HAL Pavilion at Aero India 2021. In keeping with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, the emphasis was on rotary-wing platforms, with HAL showcasing its indigenously built helicopters. Successor to the much used SA-315B Cheetah that provides a lifeline to the Indian Army at Siachen, the Cheetal is powered by the Turbomeca TM 333-2M2 with FADEC that replaces the Artouste IIIB turboshaft engine. It is designed for better climb performance, higher payload and increased range.

Apache Indian! The potent Apache of 125(H) Sqn. "Gladiators" equipped with the Ka band Longbow FCR and Hellfire missile stands for all to admire at Aero India 2021. Inducted on 3 Sept. 2019 by Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa at AFS Pathankot, the helicopter is a force multiplier on the battlefield. It was interesting to see how much interest the Apache generated among Army Aviation Corps pilots at the airshow, who will receive their machines in 2021.

Upgraded from the 'H' variant, this Mirage 2000I of No. 7 Sqn. "Battle Axes" stands on static display at Aero India 2021 on a hot day. Formed in 1942, the Squadron has been in the thick of things during World War II, 1965, 1971 and Kargil. It was the first IAF Squadron to be equipped with the Mirage 2000 or "Vajra" in 1985, named after the divine weapon of Indra. The Battle Axes proved decisive over Kargil in 1999 with their pinpoint bombing accuracy to destroy Pakistani positions on mountain tops.
