In service, it soon became apparent to the Flygvapnet that the S 6 was not good enough to serve as a fighter aircraft. The type was instead used for reconnaissance and photography, but also as a trainer and for fire fighting. This S 6B was manufactured under licence by Centrala flygverkastaden Malmslätt in 1934 and was in service for eleven years. It was refurbished to airworthy condition in connection with the 50th anniversary of Swedish military aviation in 1962 and made its final flight at an event in Holland the following year.

Constructed at the Kjeller aircraft factory in 1931. It belonged to the flying school at Kjeller and took part in battles in South Norway in 1940. It served as a reconnaissance aircraft, mainly operating in the mornings and evenings when the faster German aircraft were not so active. The aircraft was evacuated to Sweden on April 15, 1940, where it was taken over by the Swedish authorities. In 1942 the aircraft became SE-ALS. In 1949, the aircraft was presented to the Norwegian Air Force as a gift, flown home to Norway and restored to its original appearance.
