A VERY VERY exotic visitor at Quito and probably the highlight of the year!! It was my first time seeing a KC-130J and a US Marines' plane. It arrived last night from Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station (KNKT). Seen here taxiing for departure to Santiago (SCEL) as OTIS37. It probably made a stopover here on its way to RIMPAC 2024.

After 7 years, Ecuador finally got another chance to get into a FIFA World Cup and we, the spotters, got a chance to see the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour plane once again, this time a A320 as the last time we saw a MD-83 of Danish Air Transport (OY-RUE). Blasting off from runway 36 on a cloudy and cold morning to Costa Rica as AWC886. Ex F-WWDC, VT-DKY with Air Deccan and 4R-ABJ with Air Lanka.

The beautiful "Baby Rocket" spending a cold and rainy night in Quito after it tried to depart earlier for Panama City, but it had to return to the cargo apron due to an engine #3 problem that, as you can see, they were working on when I took the picture. This was the replacement for HP-1937UCG. Ex N815EA, from Eastern Air Lines, Northwest Airlines, Emery Worldwide, and Capital Cargo International Airlines.

A VERY exotic visitor here. Gulfstream of the Algerian Government arriving at Quito with Ibrahim Boughali, the assembly president of Algeria on board. He came to participate on the posession of the new president of Ecuador Daniel Noboa, elected after the ex president Lasso dissolved the assembly and called for new elections for the rest of the period. It flew all the way from ALG with stopovers at SMA and PTP before arriving to UIO. The day after the possesion, the plane departed towards PTP, then to LIS and finally it arrived back in Algers.

In December of 2023, United sent once again to Quito the B757s instead of the now common, B737 MAX 8s. And, as always, the airline suffered a big delay on, not one, but two flights with B757 which both departed on the day with minutes of difference. This was the second one, wearing the new livery and departing towards Houston as UAL3025.
