This was the personal plane of Mozambican president Samora Machel. On a flight from Mbala in Zambia to Mozambique's capital, Maputo, on 19 October 1986 the aircraft crashed at Mbuzini, in the (then) Transvaal on the border between South Africa and Mozambique. There is a certain level of controversy connected with this event, ranging from pilot error to false VOR signals. The official report concluded that it was a controlled flight into terrain.

First flown 26 May 1976 and delivered to Zambia Airways 7 June 1976. To VASP 6 July 1995 as PP-SPJ, written off in a landing accident 26 January 2003 at Rio Branco-Plácido de Castro International Airport (RBR) when the aircraft drifted through a cloud bank on short finals hitting a tree and breaking the landing gear on touch down. First flown at Hurn on 29 August 1957 at Hurn as part of an order for BOAC Associated Companies. The first operator was Middle East Airlines where c/n 240 flew as OD-ACU. MEA sub-leased OD-ACU to Jersey Airlines before purchasing it from BOAC for lease to Jordan Airways in 1961. Returned to MEA in 1964, it was sold to Air Rhodesia as VP-WAR in 1968. In 1976 it was sold to Aviation Hire & Travel as ZS-JPU and leased to Swazi Air. Re-registered 3D-AAL the same year, it remained on lease to Swazi until 1979 when returned for lease to Air Rhodesia. Sold to Air Zimbabwe in 1981 and scrapped in 1986

Built in 1979 and registered N5747C before spending seven years in Denmark as OY-BSW. Sold to Swaziland at the end of 1990, this Cessna 402C is seen at Mataspha with the Swazi registration crudely applied alongside its former Danish registration. Later registered ZS-NVE with various South African operators. After a stint as 9Q-CON, she returned to ZS-NVE and suffered substanial damage at Kalahari Lion Safaris Airfield on 21 April 2024. This Alouette spent its entire service life in Southern Africa serving with the SAAF as 26, Rhodesian Air Force as 5774, and finally with the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force as SDF-003. Photographer unknown
