This aircraft was lost on 30th July 1976 when crashed into the North Sea off Flamborough Head, Humberside, after the pilot was instructed to eject over the sea after he was unable to lower the undercarriage while on approach to RAF Leconfield due to a mechanical defect; the pilot was quickly recovered by a Westland Whirlwind SAR helicopter.

This aircraft was lost on 30th July 1976 when crashed into the North Sea off Flamborough Head, Humberside, after the pilot was instructed to eject over the sea after he was unable to lower the undercarriage while on approach to RAF Leconfield due to a mechanical defect; the pilot was quickly recovered by a Westland Whirlwind SAR helicopter.
