This C-47 was built as wartime 43-49942 and delivered to the Royal Air Force in May 1945 as KN270. It was transferred to the RCAF with the same serial in April 1946 (and later became 12909). Sold to Ontario Central Airlines January 8, 1976, it would pass through several Canadian airlines before sold in the USA as N595AM in 1998. The aircraft was last with the Commemorative Air Force as N47HL from 2004. Sadly it caught fire and burned up after drifting off the runway during take-off on July 21, 2018 at Burnet Municipal Kate Craddock Field, TX .

Another one the Internet has got wrong. It was imported from the USA in 1960 according to the CCAR. So far- so good. Where the problem comes is other sources say in was exported to the USA in 1963 as N4575C whereas the CCAR shows it cancelled in 1983 which is correct. Paint scheme is light blue/dark blue with a gold or yellow trim.

Ontario Central Airlines began as a charter airline connecting the wilderness of Ontario with the rest of Canada. Growing from two used Fairchild 82 float planes to a scheduled airline with DC-3s among the other bush aircraft like the Noorduyn Norseman and De Havilland Otters. Merging with Ilford Riverton Airways in 1991, the airline was eventually re-named Air Manitoba. This DC-3 was in the fleet between 1974 to 1993.
