One of 14 Piaggio 136Fs delivered to the Italian Air Force from 1951. Sold to the Aeroclub of Bologna c1964 becoming I-TEMA, the aircraft was rarely flown and by 1967 ended up with a local scrap dealer at Anzola Dell'emilia close to Bologna. Rather than scrap the aircraft he put it on display at the front of his yard where it still remained in early 2024. (photo by John Fricker)

Aircraft took part in London to Paris race. Photo probably taken at the Thames in Barking from where it flew to the Seine in Paris. Ex G-APNY which was operated by Onassis Shipping Line and flew to Croydon from the yacht of Aristotle Onassis in 1958. Registered HB-LAV just before the race. To SX-BDB in 1960 which was nominally in the fleet of Onassis' Olympic Aviation, but it and SX-BDC (c/n 246) were used privately by Onassis. The crash of SX-BDC on 22 January 1973 killed Onassis' son Alexander. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)

The second Piaggio P.136. According to a drawing this aircraft was creamy white and grey. It was later rebuilt as the P.136L prototype with Lycoming engines. This Piaggio P.139L-1 was assembled by Trecker Aircraft in Milwaukee and sold to Canada as CF-IZG in about 1957. Some sources say it became CF-PQD, possibly owned by the Quebec Gov't Lands & Forests Dept. To Oregon as N100W in 1966. To California as N1005P in 1973-1977. Crashed on takeoff from a lake near Stockton, CA on Oct 22, 1977. Wreck of N1005P next seen 32 years later north of Toronto, ON at Collingwood Airport (CNY3) in 2007 and Edenvale (CNV8) in 2008. Later sold (with amphibian behind) to the Barrie Paintball range located 20 km SW of Edenvale (at 8200 10th Line, Barrie, ON).
