From 1967 to the mid-1970s this C-7 operated out of Cam Ranh Bay AB, South Vietnam with the 483TCW/TAW/TFW, typically into unprepared airstrips along the borders of Laos and Cambodia in support of Special Forces. From 1977 assigned to the 357TAS (AL ANG) at Maxwell AFB, and transferred to the US Army there in 1987 for their Golden Knights Parachute Team. Retired to Dover in 1992, but was incorrect painted as "AF39-760" instead of "AF63-760".

From 1957 the USAF bought 160 Cessna 310s as light administrative liaison, cargo and utility transports under the original designation L-27A, later changed to U-3A. 35 more were delivered in 1960-1961 as U-3Bs with upgraded specification. This one was decommissioned in 1972 and arrived at the AMC Museum in 2.09

The Voodoo became the principle aircraft of the 98th FIS stationed at Dover AFB in from mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. Their job was to defend Washington DC and the Eastern US during the Cold War period. This example has been smartly restored to represent one of them, although in fact its actual service history was with the 49th FIS (Griffiss AFB, NY), 60th FIS (Otis AFB, MA) and 107th TFG NY ANG (Niagara Falls)

Looking superb, this VC-9 is a recent addition to the AMC Museum, being retired to Dover in Aug 2011. Operated by 89th MAW out of Andrews AFB, MD (and Scott AFB, IL after 2005) as Air Force Two and occasionally Air Force One, carrying many of the American presidents since 1975

Arrived at the AMC Museum in 1996 and later joined by the first-built C-141A 61-2275 which is parked alongside. All remaining Starlifters in service were retired by 2006

This rescue helicopter was formerly displayed at Travis AFB, CA. The Huskie was notable for its intermeshing wooden rotors and was extensively used in Vietnam for recovery missions, and later for airbase fire-crash duties, known by the callsign "Pedro". Around 250 were built of which about a dozen have been preserved

The very first Starlifter to be built, making her maiden flight on 17.12.63, the 60th Anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight. Spent entire career as a test aircraft with AFSC at Wright-Patterson in numerous programs, the last being to test a new tension rope for NASA towing a QF-106 in the air. One of four early C-141A's not converted to C-141B standard, all 270 in the main fleet undergoing the stretch. Joined C-141B 64-0626, parked alongside in 'lizard' camouflage

Air Mobility Command Museum. Engines and landing gear were salvaged from NC-121K 141292, which was scrapped at Florence, SC in 1999 after being damaged by a brush fire. The engine nacelles show graphic evidence of that fire.

Cold winter weather has stopped the painting contractor from finishing his job as evidenced by the two tone appearance of the fuselage.

Air Mobility Command Museum. This airplane sat atop a restaurant in Pennsylvania for almost thirty years after retirement from Capitol International Airways. There's plenty of peeling paint to be removed by museum volunteers before the real restoratation job begins.

This was the last C-133 to come off the production line at Douglas. Now at the Air Mobility Command Museum.

This C-119G is ex-RCAF 22118. When retired by the RCAF it was converted to an air tanker and given the US registration N3559. The museum has marked it with the USAF serial number 51-2881, which was assigned to an F86!

Reversing the trend of ex military Constellations being painted in civilian color schemes, this airplane will be restored to represent a military C-121 transport.

This aircraft is on display as B-17G 42-107112 "Sleepy Time Gal". In reality, it is B-17G 44-83624, which was at Wright Patterson AFB for many years. The AMC Museum received this aircraft in the late 1980's from WPAFB in trade for B-17G 42-32076 "Shoo Shoo Baby", which had been restored by the AMC Museum.

In 2011 this C-54 was restored in its WWII Pacific Theater markings, which it still carried during Berlin Airlift service, by then the one of 38 'M' models converted for coal hauling. From 1973 was used for sky marshall training but joined the AMC Museum in 1989

My favourite exhibit at the superb AMC Museum. One of a handful surviving out of 50 built, the Cargomaster was designed as a long-range strategic airlifter, particularly for the transport of ICBMs. All were withdrawn in 1971 when metal fatigue was found. This example was delivered to the 1501ATW (MATS) at Travis AFB, CA in 4.61, the unit becoming 60MAW in 1966. Decommissioned and to Offutt AFB, NE for the SAC Museum in 6.71; like the C-124, flown to Dover inside a C-5 when the SAC Museum relocated in 1998

This A-26 was acquired from the Eagles Air Museum (part of the Bonanzaville Museum and Historic Village) in Fargo, ND by the AMC Museum in Aug 2008 for restoration and placed on display soon after. Most sources incorrectly quote the aircraft as c/n 28802 ex N3428G (ex USAAF 44-35523), due to a mistake by the Eagles Air Museum in Fargo. This is why it is also falsely painted as such. Its true identity however is 44-35552 c/n 28831 ex N5544V. It's

This Provider was taken on charge in 1957 as a C-123B and served in Vietnam from 1961 to 1972, first as a UC-123B and later as a UC-123K when the auxiliary J85 jets were added, flying low-level defoliant and insecticide spray missions and cargo deliveries into strips as short as 2,000ft. Stored at Davis-Monthan from 1976 but reactivated for the Peruvian police on drug interdiction work under US Department of State registration N97033 from 1987 (nicknamed "El Burro"), prior to preservation at Dover in 1990. Serial presentation "AF40-658" is of course nonsense and should have read "AF54-658".
