The Vega 35 was commenced as the North American NA-35. It lost out to the Ryan STA for a USAAC order. The design and four unfinished aircraft were sold to Lockheed subsidiary Vega. Vega finished the aircraft and from this photo it was offered to the RCAF. Wartime demands on Vega's production capacity saw the aircraft again dropped. The four Vega built aircraft were sold to civil buyers. NX28351 (probably as NC28351) was cancelled from the register in 1948. The Navion, another North American project, used the same wing. Remained in RCAF service until 1968. Sold in the US as N6690 and ferried to Tucson for scrapping. Stored in RCAF markings with the rear fuselage crushed. It is here carrying the GP-x code for 1 FTS. Unfortunately the individual letter is not known. Under the wing this is presented as VC-GPx. Photo from: Library and Archives Canada

The last Argus built by Canadair is pictured out back of the National Aeronautical Collection hangar (now Canada Aviation and Space Museum). The last operational Argus flight was flown November 10, 1980 and the type retired. This aircraft made the last flight of any Argus on February 10, 1982 when it was delivered to the Museum for display. Stored outside until moved into the museum's new hangar in 2005, it has undergone some restoration to repair the damage done by weather. The aircraft is back outside, partially cocooned at the time of uploading.
