Crashed in landing at Schofields airport, Sydney, during crew training on June 3, 1947. The following month another DC-3 was registered VH-AOH (c/n 12790) and named RMA Warrumbungle. That aircraft had been converted to a 24-seater with an airstair passenger door and eight windows on each side of the cabin, one for each row of passengers. Behind -AOH in the photo are CAC Wackett trainers intended for civil conversion.

Converted to a twin (P&W Wasp) in 1942. Withdrawn from use the day sister ship VH-UYY, also a twin, shed a wing in flight.

Scrapped Sydney airport July 1938. Fuselage used for a caravan.

Converted to freighter in 1955, sold in Taiwan as B-1811 in August 1967

VH-UTM, operated by Airlines of Australia, forced landed near Orford Bay, Queensland on February 16, 1942. Stripped of parts and the rest pushed from a cliff.

The one and only ST-18 Croydon. The British 12-seater set off for a return flight to Australia on July 30, 1936 in the hope the publicity might attract orders. But it got the wrong publicity when on the return trip it force-landed on Seringapatam Reef in the Timor Sea on October 7 after navigation errors. Fishermen rescued the crew but the Croydon was abandoned to the elements.

Was in Papua New Guinea at the start of the Pacific War and destroyed in a Japanese air raid. Unclear if it was airworthy at the time.

Delivered October 1957 as "Southern Aurora". Flew first Qantas round-the-world service eastbound (January 1958). Lost prop during emergency landing in Nevada August 1959 and sold to Lockheed two months later as N9722C. Leased back August 1960 as "Southern Prodigal". Purchased March 1961. Withdrawn from use February 1962. Sold in US as N86682 in March 1963

VH-UHH was involved in one of the most famous accidents in Australian aviation history. On February 19, 1937 it vanished on a flight from Brisbane to Sydney with two pilots and five passengers on board. Nine days later, Bernard O'Reilly, of the Lamington Guest House, hiked into the McPherson Range convinced that was where the plane had come down. On March 1 he found the wreckage and the two surviving passengers. Two passengers and the pilots died in the crash and the fifth passenger fell to his death over a waterfall trying to reach help.

Bought by famed aviator Charles Kingsford Smith, G-ABCF was used for record-breaking solo UK-Australia flight in October 1930. Smith sold it to Guy Menzies, who made first solo Australia-New Zealand flight in January 1931. Flight ended with G-ABCF on its back. Until then G-ABCF was a single seater with a fuel tank in front cockpit. Rebuilt as two seater. Crashed at Mascot airport (Sydney International) April 12, 1931, killing pilot and passenger. At time G-ABCF was a landplane. This Milton Kent photo showing it on floats remains unexplained but it might have been in connection with a planned flight to Japan that did not go ahead. Avian never took up allocated marks VH-UPT.

The third DC-4 conversion by Douglas after World War II, NC88884 had been built as a C-54E. Sold by Pan Am in 1961, went to the Spanish air force.

Destroyed by fire at Mackay, Queensland, on July 1, 1938.
