They crashed on take-off Muntok, Batavia 10 Jan 1928; repaired at Singapore and flight restarted 13 Mar 1928; arrived Darwin 19 Mar 1928. UK Registration G-EBTU belatedly cancelled 2.12.30. Wreckage of Capt William Lancaster's Avro Avian IVM (previously VH-UQG) which crashed on 12 April 1933. The body of William Lancaster was discovered 12 February 1962 by a patrol of the Légion étrangère (French Foreign Legion) when they found the crash site. The wreck was located about 45 miles west of Lancaster's planned route from Reggane to Gao, French Sudan. His intended route was to follow a road across the desert. The estimated time of arrival at Gao was 0230. The wreck was recovered by the Wylton Dickson Expedition.

Crashed 30 Aug 1928 after striking a tall flagpole on final approach to Hamble, pilot was Miss Bessie Grace, granddaughter of the cricketer W G Grace. Repaired. Finally w/o 1 June 1934 when the pilot attempted a landing in too short a field at Stevenage and collided with the boundary hedge.

Williams and rebuilt by QANTAS in Longreach, QLD. A new C of A was issued in 1933. In May 1939 it passed to M.M.Castle of Bundaberg, Qld, where this photo was taken.
