First flown as GR1 on 28 Dec'67, and delivered to the RAF on 16 Apr'68, this Harrier was later modified to GR1A and GR3 (as pictured). It was withdrawn from use in mid'93 and later stored with Phoenix Aviation, Bruntingthorpe (UK). It became N4320W on 3 May'98 with the National Aviation and Transporation Museum of Florida, Hobe Sound (FL). Later it was moved to Arlington Municipal Airport, Arlington (WA) and the Flying Heritage Collection of Paul Allen, Paine Field, Everett (WA). Again moved, to the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum at Paine. N4320W was canx in 2017. Current status unknown.

The IAF had plans to upgrade the aircraft with PS90 turbofans (like the six Il-78 tankers of the IAF), but it is now said that the fleet will be retired soon. The last flight is expected within a few years. The tasks of the type will be handed over to the C-130 and C-17 fleet of the IAF. The Il-76s are assigned to 44 Squadron "Mighty Jets", based at Chandigarh AFS.

Assigned to 95th BG, 336th BS and arrived on 17 December 1944 at Horam, Suffolk. Reportedly named "Section Eight" and here seen on a mission somewhere over Europe. Damaged on a mission to the railway marshalling yards at Holzwickede on 23 March 1945. On return to England it was likely making for the special battle damage runway at Woodbridge, Suffolk when it collided with another B-17 and crashed at nearby Campsea Ashe.

Ex 44-76991, KN637, K-32 in the Belgian air force, and X-5 in the Dutch air force. Transferred to the navy for service in Netherlands New Guinea. The MLD (Naval Air Service) declared the Gooney Bird to be an R4D-1, misspelt as 'R4 D-1' on the tailfin, even though the C-47B was the R4D-6. Tail code B for Biak. Sold in Vietnam as XV-NIK. One of 9 Shackletons in open store at the Picketston dump area of RAF St. Athan. Last operated by the Ballykelly Wing. Placed in storage at St Athan MU 7th October 1970. Refurbished in 1977 and issued to 8 Sqn 5th May 1977 to replace WL738 as a pilot-training aircraft with the unit. Coded A. Suffered a heavy landing at Lossiemouth during 1980 and declared Cat.5(GI). Issued with maintenance serial 8651M and used by the Battle Damage Repair Flight at Lossiemouth until transferred to the Fire Section 20th February 1981 and scrapped July 1982.

The Elementary Flying Training School still operated the Chipmunk in 1993. A year later the EFTS was dissolved and Swinderby was closed.

The code on the nose has faded a bit, a photo from the right side revealed "B".
