'Reach 84' at the Australian International Airshow. This aircraft was ordered for the USAF in 1958 as a KC-135A-BN Stratotanker. Currently with the 507th ARW at Tinker AFB. In the background is 'Reach 483', C-5B Galaxy 87-0028. One thinks of the KC-135/B707 as a large aircraft, but alongside the mighty Galaxy it looks like a light aircraft!

During the mid-60s this aircraft, along with two others, were assigned to Andrews AFB under the code name 'Silver Dollar' and were intended for use by the President in the event of a nuclear war. Fortunately she was never needed in this role and she has found sanctuary from the axeman at the pima Air & Space Museum.

After serving with the USAAF this B-25 had an interesting civilian career as N3507G. Firstly as a fire tanker and then owned (as a camera ship?) by Tallmanz Aviation with 'Catch-22' to her credits. Now she enjoys her retirement on display at the Grissom Air Museum.
