It had various team assignments: #3 in 1969, #6 in 1970, #3 in 1971, #7 in 1972, and #6 in 1973. #7 is the team's Narrator a/c and also is the spare a/c in case one of the six show a/c have a mechanical issue. This Fiscal Year 1980 Blue Angel was seen from late 1991 at the dump of the Naval Weapons Evaluation Facility (NWEF) at Albuquerque (NM) where it was used in an investigation programme in which aircraft-weapon interfaces were researched to provide United States Navy aircraft with nuclear weapons delivery capability. After the programme, the Hornet was transferred to NAD North Island in early 1992, then served the NAWC-AD. It was stored at AMARC with inventory code 1A0008 from 3 May 1995. The Hornet was moved to HVF West on 12 September 2018 and scrapped.

This a/c saw combat in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 while assigned to VFA-81. Now on display in Smyrna, TN. as a memorial to Captain Jeff Kuss, USMC. In 2016 Capt. Kuss perished during a Blue Angel practice at Smyrna and the city erected the memorial in his honor.
