A German Albatros B.II was damaged during a stopover in Stockholm in 1914 but WWI broke out before it could be repaired. The B.II was copied by the Swedes with 40 examples produced at various workshops around Sweden. This aircraft was built at Flygkompaniet's fabric workshops in Malmslätt in 1925 and given the c/n 464. It was one of eight of the original forty aircraft that were transferred to the Flygvapnet when it was formed in 1926 and given the designation Sk 1. A new Flygvapnet serial 04 was assigned and placed at the flying school at F 5 Ljungbyhed where it flew until SOC in 1929.

These bases were continually manned with a skeleton maintenance crew to keep them action ready. In case of war, the units would disperse to pre-assigned bases. This outside diorama shows a Viggen with a Jeep service unit and a GPU. A Volvo fuel truck would complete the line service units while in the field.

The Swedish Air Force introduced its own designation system when it was established. The DH Vampire became "Jaktflygplan 28" or Fighter Aircraft 28. This example is actually 28219, but painted to represent an F15 aircraft. Note the red squadron insignia on the wall. The insignia in the middle is that of 1. Division's technical company, 1. komp F15. The two others are those of 1. Divison. The black hand on left was used from the early 1960s until it was replaced by "Attackix" around 1978.

A lot can be said for the F15 Flygmuseum at Söderhamn. In this case, with the long-legged push-propellor J 21, they illurstrate the early adoption of ejector seats on the type. The first test of the seat developed by Bofors took place in 1943 with the first ejection from flight took place in July 1946. The aircraft carries the colours of 1. Divisionen of F15 Hälsinge flygflottilj which was based at Söderhamn.
