The T-38 was modified with a weapons pylon and a gunsight to become the AT-38B and was used in the LIFT program for the transition training of fighter pilots. This example was used as an aggressor trainer until its retirement in 1991. It arrived at the National Museum of the USAF during 1999 and placed on display in 2004.

In 1940 the Army Air Corps ordered 203 O-52s for observation duties but after the US entry into WWII it was apparent that the Owl lacked the performance necessary for combat operations overseas. As a result, the USAAF relegated the type to internal courier duties and short-range submarine patrols off the US coasts. This L was built around 1944 and TOC with the USAAF as 44-53232. After WWII it passed into civilian hands and then served with the Honduran AF between 1949 and 1960 as FAH505. It came to the National Museum of the USAf in 1961 and is displayed as a P-38J with the 55th FS based in England. The top hats on the port side of the aircraft represent the nine bomber escort missions flown by its pilot, 2nd Lt. Royal D. Frey, with the yellow hat signifying five and the white hats one each.

The A-24 Banshee was the USAAF variant of the Navy SBD Dauntless dive bomber and the type was heavily involved in the South Pacific in operations against the invading Japanese forces. However, losses were high and the Banshee was regarded by many pilots as too slow, short-ranged and poorly armed to be effective. This example on display at the National Museum of the USAF is actually 42-54582 but is displayed as an airctaft that crashed-landed in Java and subsequently abandoned.
